Broker's Details:
HISTORY & DESCRIPTION:
The Cruisaire 30 design, drawn by successful naval architect Alfred Luders (1909-1999) was first produced in 1969 by the well respected Cheoy-Lee Shipyard, Hong Kong.
Cheoy-Lee Shipyard first established in 1870 moved to the Hong Kong yard in 1936 and still in the same family ownership began producing teak sailing and motor-yachts for notable designers of the era.
The yard were pioneers in the early 1960s of GRP moulded construction and became fore-runners in pleasure craft by the mid-1960s.
The Cruisaire 30 was a popular centre-plate design mostly exported to the USA. The hull is fitted out in teak with laid decks, teak coachroof and cockpit.
Originally designed as a masthead cutter the rig was reconfigured in the 1980s. The present Bermudian ketch rig has easily managed sail areas from the large centre-cockpit.
FIA FIA 11 was built for the 1971 London Boat Show at Earls Court. She was photographed with Prime Minister Edward Heath opening the show.
D G R Grundy became her first registered owner keeping her in Chichester Harbour. The current owners bought her through Classic Yacht Brokerage in the mid-1990s and gave her a re-fit before sailing her for over 20 years in the Solent.
Lack of time now dictates a sale of this versatile, quality vessel with her distinctive clipper bow, pronounced sheer and useful shoal-draught ideal for drying moorings or estuary sailing.
Five berths in three cabins with quality teak joinery throughout, dovetailed joints to lockers and drawers, teak and holly cabin sole.
Fore Cabin: Berths to port and starboard, fore-hatch, chain locker.
Saloon: Settee berth to port, a mechanism for centre-plate on aft bulkhead with casing forming a saloon table. Galley to starboard with cooker, sink unit, pantry lockers and cutlery drawers.
Steps up to: Centre Cockpit with teak locker seats, wheel steering, binnacle compass, access beneath sole to: 47hp PERKINS DIESEL ENGINE
Aft Cabin: Berths to port and starboard.
RIG: Keel stepped main mast and mizzen on aft bridge. Stainless steel standing rigging. Recent sail covers.
Stainless steel dinghy davits.
Quality original deck hardware.
